We the Story

We the Story is a community website to share and read personal stories. Go to the Submit a Story page for guidance on submitting a story!

Oprah Winfrey is on board with this idea too. According to CBS News, starting this fall, Oprah will be a special contributor to “60 Minutes” where she will facilitate conversationsstorytellingbetween people of different backgrounds. This is exciting news!

Below is an excerpt from Oprah’s 60 Minutes introduction:

“I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling,” Winfrey said. “At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”

Declaration:

We the Story of the People, come together to form a perfect union based on compassion, love and understanding, providing for the common good of all and establish a place to share our stories free of judgment or criticism.

We the Story will heal our ignorance through storytelling.

We have an opportunity to bridge the divide we’re experiencing as a nation. Our separation is at the root of our desperation. The fear and desperation is real. We are a confused and disconnected people.

Asking, sharing and listening to other people’s stories is how we can heal. We the Story is one idea, one solution, to bridge the gap; it’s a way to help us come together.
